"My photography is a display of how I see my surroundings. Enlarging and expressing the micro world around me leads me to a deeper engagement to space, time, and reality. In my photographs, reality means details and sometimes exploring the fragments of life as an abstract form. My goal is to make photographs that show unexplored worlds of color and texture. I am inspired by details, from small pieces to much bigger scales and how they connect me to the world. My choice of subject comes from nature, still life, beauty, dirt, and sometimes just from an emotional connection. I explore the unknown side of common and simple subjects. I use a variety of different equipment and techniques including reverse lens, stacking lenses, extension tubes, stacking images, macro lenses, snoot and ring flash. Macro photography has been one of the most challenging and technical fields of photography for me. It does not matter if it is saturated, vibrant, detailed, abstract, presenting color or texture, because it is all about how it can be seen, and everyone can see it differently. Preparing the setting for my desired photograph, research, learning, and the process of trial and error require a physical and mental assiduity which is a lesson taking away from this project to my personal life.”
